I don’t get a chance to share much of my 3D work here, but I’ve actually done quite a bit of sculpting and 3D modelling professionally. Shelby was sculpted and painted in the application zBrush.

In the case of Shelby, the character was already designed in 2D, but the developers were looking for a 3D sculpt that could be printed. Depending on the intended purpose and kind of printer, printed models do well to be kept compact, without too many large crevices or thin parts. Instead, the goal with Shelby was to keep her stocky.

After completing the sculpt, I separated her exactly in half to make for easier printing. I’m looking forward to seeing the physical model when it’s ready! I always love working with indie game developers, and Nathan and the folks making Kerfuffle were no exception.
